throw under the bus

To throw (someone) under the bus ------ scapegoat or reject.

這個片語在2004年起大量被運動記者引用而開始流行，到2008年擴散到主流媒體。
通常是用來描述政治刻意和不受歡迎的人和爭議人物保持距離。
David Segal, 華盛頓郵報的記者, 稱這個用法為 "the cliché of the 2008 campaign."
